Born in 1992, Charles lived in a family of four brothers and one sister in the Kakura District of Kenya. His mother was a single mom.
In 2003, the family moved and rented a small shelter in Dagoretti in hopes of his mother finding a job in the local slaughter houses. When Charles mother could not secure a job, she up and left her children in their rented quarters with no food or water, and returned to Kakura alone. Days and weeks passed with the children left alone before some people in the community would assist them.
In 2004, a neighbor brought the situation to the attention of D4K where Charles and his younger brother were to take up residence. Through D4K, Charles is enrolled in a boarding school, Kinale High School, where he is in 11th grade, Form 2.
Charles enjoys martial arts and playing soccer. He hopes to continue his studies in the field of technical engineering.
