D4K is lead by James Njoroge Mwaura, Director, with the assistance of Michael Mungai, a senior at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia (who returns each summer); Mark Orrs a PHD student in Sustainable Economic Development at Columbia University (see Dedication; Seeds of Sucess). The group met several years ago while working and volunteering at various orphanages and the Pamoja Children’s Trust, a Christian charity organization focused on the plight of African children.
Shown above is James with Dagoretti high school graduates Gerald Kamau, Daniel Mariga and Simon Thuo who help mentor the younger residents of D4K. All these young men have a vocation in helping Kenya’s youth, particularly “chokoraa” or children whose lives are ravaged by AIDS, poverty and drugs.
