Allan Miomgira (1990) was born in Rwanda. During the Rwandan genocide of 1994, Allan and his family fled to Tanzania where they lived as refugees until 1999. During that year, Allan’s uncle convinced Allan’s parents to send Allan to Kenya with him. That was the last time that he has had any contact with his parents. In Kenya, Allan faced abuse in various forms. He was also denied the chance to go to school.
He consequently sought help at a local center which facilitated his sponsorship through a donor. Unfortunately Allan’s aunt stole the money and his studies were again impaired. Neighbors brought his case to the local authorities who in turn referred him to our center. He has been with us since 2004 and is currently in secondary school in form one, at the Oloitoktok Boys High School. He has demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for learning new languages and is doing exceptionally well in school. Allan is now working hard towards his goal of becoming an international lawyer so that he can help children like himself. He also has plans to write poetry and novels that inspire others.
