Wakabu

Born in 1992, Patrick was the oldest child born into a family in a village not far from D4K. Unfortunately, his parents divorced when he was very young and his mother soon married another man in the village. Both parents were alcoholics which greatly contributed to an abusive home environment. As a result, Patrick and his younger brother, Andrew, spent more and more time loitering in the streets.

In 2004, Patrick’s mother succeeded in enrolling Patrick and his brother in public school. Divorced again by 2005, Patrick’s mother came to the center seeking assistance to keep her children in school. At D4K, she was offered a caretakers job, with housing for her and her boys.  Unfortunately, she passed away later that same year.

Despite their mother's death, Patrick and his brother have remained part of D4K community. Patrick is currently enrolled in Kilimanjaro Academy, a primary boarding school where he attends 8th grade.

Patrick excels in reading and likes to dance. He aspires to be a lawyer in the future.
